Best Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Wines for the Holidays

A review of my favorite non-alcoholic sparkling wines in 2024

For me, the holidays and a festive glass of sparkling wine go hand-in-hand. Even if we're not drinking, luckily I can still partake with these delicious non-alcoholic sparkling wines that won't leave me with a raging headache the next day.

Out of all the non-alcoholic sparkling white wines I've tried in 2024, these are my top picks, ranging from $15-40 per bottle. Many are available at The Zero Proof, and you can use code SoberishMom for 15% off, or on Amazon (both are affilliate links).

But before that... let me be perfectly honest. Are these the perfect dupes to "real" sparkling wines? No. That does not exist, as far as I can tell. When you remove alcohol from wine it inevitably affects the body and flavor. However, what I love about sparkling wines is that carbonation can often hide what's missing in body and complexity, and make your glass taste a little closer to the real deal than say a glass of still nonalcoholic wine. So when you try them, know that you really can't compare apples to apples. I suggest going in with an open mind and be ready to have a little fun as you sip.

Review: Best Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Wines

But first... why is non-alcoholic wine so damn expensive?

When I started experimenting with non-alcoholic wines I was outraged at how expensive they were. I wondered if it was really worth it to pony up on a bottle without the buzz. But now I will happily pay whatever they ask to be able to enjoy a nice glass of non-alcoholic wine and keep me on track drinking less. I figure what I spend avoiding booze, I gain back tenfold in health benefits. I also realized that for me, it wasn't just about the buzz, it was also about the ritual. I love having something tasty in my glass during happy hour, or at a party where everyone around me is drinking. Having a replacement for the alcohol has really helped me on my mindful drinking journey.

The similarity in price is because the production costs remain the same, if not more, for quality alcohol-removed wines. Vintners use the same initial winemaking production process as they do with regular wine. However, then production involves one additional element: the removal of the alcohol, which is done with very expensive technology. So you're talking about all the costs of grapes, making wine, labor, and also marketing a new, alcohol-free product. That's a lot for a winery to take on.

A quality non-alcoholic wine that tastes (almost) equivalent to its alcoholic counterpart has to use quality ingredients and sophisticated winemaking techniques. And since I'm looking for something wit the complexity of the real stuff, the cheapskate in me has to take a back seat on this one.

Best Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Wines of 2024

Listed in order of price, from $16 to $40 per bottle

Mionetto Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Wine

Bottle and glass of nonalcoholic wine
Best Grocery Store Find: $16, Mionetto's

At only $16 per bottle this is the best bang for your buck, and you don't have to special order it. I've seen it at every Kroger in my PNW area and it's delightfully zesty and crisp, and won't break the bank. Definitely the best grocery store find of the year and perfect for mimosa mocktails.

Giesen Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Wine

One of the most affordable at $20 per bottle, this is a bright bottle of non-alcoholilc sparkling wine. It's off-dry and refreshing at only 20 calories per glass, so you don't have to worry about it being overly sweet. It has a citrusy bite on the finish that almost emulates the real deal. $20 at The Zero Proof or Amazon

Wölffer Estates Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Wines

I definitely recommend both the Wolffer Estates sparkling rosé and blanc de blancs as great options this holiday season. I did a full review of the "Spring in a Bottle" sparkling rosé last year, and absolutely I love the tight knit bubbles and mouthfeel of their non-alcoholic wines. Both are complex, off-dry, and you can’t beat the convenience of the mini bottles. The beautiful packaging is perfect for holiday sipping or gifting. Starts from $20 at Wolfferestates.com

Noughty AF Sparkling Chardonnay

Noughty AF Sparkling Chardonnay
Noughty AF Sparkling Chardonnay

Several people recommended this one to me and I also love Noughty's AF Syrah, so I was excited to try another bottle from this winemaker. With 2.9g of sugar per 100ml, it’s much dryer than many non-alcoholic bottles I've tried. Made from 100% Chardonnay grapes out of Spain, the flavor is lovely with delicate notes of apples and citrus and a slight minerality. A really nice mouthfeel with fizzy, cava-like bubbles. A top recommendation and crowd-pleaser. $22 at The Zero Proof or Amazon

Oddbird Blanc de Blancs

Oddbird Blanc de Blancs
Oddbird Blanc de Blancs

Oddbird is one of my favorite non-alcoholic wine producers because of the craft that goes into every bottle. Their winemaking process includes sourcing high-quality grapes and letting the wine mature for up to 12 months before the dealcoholization process begins. The Blanc de Blancs is made from Chardonnay & Colombard grapes, giving notes of green apple and a balanced acidity with a hint of lemon. It's off-dry with about 6g of sugar per glass, has a mild sweetness and a crisp, refreshing finish. $25 at The Zero Proof or Amazon

Joyus Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Wine

Joyus Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Wine
Joyus Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Wine

Joyus is produced in Seattle, WA and was the first non-alcoholic winery in the area, and one of the only woman-owned non-alcoholic wineries in the U.S. I love supporting a female-founded and led company, let alone right in my backyard. This one is lovely with delicious notes of apricot and a hint of tropical fruit, like a whisper of pineapple. There’s a nice tart acidity balanced with a soft sweetness. It comes in at about 5g of sugar per glass and I would happily drink this one any night. $25 on Amazon

Bolle Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Wines

bottle of bolle rose wine with glass
Bolle Rose, $30 per bottle

New to me this winter, I really enjoyed both the Bolle Rose and their Blanc de Blancs. Bolle starts with a quality chardonnay wine that is dealcoholized before going through a second fermentation process that helps preserve the natural mouthfeel and flavor of wine, without any artificial additives. The blanc de blancs has crisp notes of apple and pear, with a hint of minerality. The rosé has lovely notes of strawberry and red berries without being overly sweet. Due to their high quality dealcoholization process they both a lovely complexity and those perfect, tight-knit bubbles. A little on the pricier side but delicious at $30 per bottle.

Zeronimo Sparkling Select

Zeronimo Sparkling Select

Zeronimo carries one of my favorite non-alcoholic reds, and their sparkling wine didn’t disappoint either. A very complex glass of bubbles, it has a medium body and perfectly tight-knit bubbles that sing on your tongue. It’s very dry with a well-balanced acidity and notes of toasted almonds, zesty citrus, and just a whisper of funk on the back. The flavor notes are quite different from most of the others listed here, which tend to have a strong flavor of apple, pear and lemon. This was the only one with recognizable notes of roasted almonds and brioche. One of the most expensive non-alcoholic sparking wines on the market from $40 at Zeronimowine.com
