Soberish Date Night: Kamp Social House

One of my new favorite restaurants with an inclusive bar program & incredible eats

If you're trying to drink less or not at all, sometimes going out to eat can be a bit nerve-racking or disappointing. Will they have any good non-alcoholic options? Will I feel pressure to drink? After years of working in the restaurant business, I also know that liquor sales are one of the best ways for a server or bartender to make more tips, so I almost feel guilty ordering a club soda as a waiter rolls their eyes walking away. That's what inspired me to start a guide to my favorite restaurants with inclusive bar programs where it doesn't matter what's in your glass, as long as it's tasty.

I can't think of a better place to start off my Seattle restaurant guide with than Kamp Social House. Marceil Van Camp, who opened the Madison Valley restaurant in 2022 with her spouse Katy Knauff, puts the needs of people who don't want to drink front and center. The inclusive bar program caters to drinkers and "sober-curious" alike with low-and-no alcohol options for cocktails, beer, and wine alongside alcoholic drinks.

They have a generous outdoor patio with large umbrellas and a covered area that I imagine would still be pretty great on a cloudy or misty Seattle day. By happenstance we dined on a Sunday, when they offer a 3-course meal for two, including a round of drinks (low-or-no alc included) for $80.

When we first walked in we were greeted by their bartender, Tyler. I mentioned I was interested in his low-and-no cocktail menu and he immediately bulled out his bar book to start discussing recipes and ingredients with me. Let me just say, every restaurant needs a Tyler.

We started with the Rose Spritz and Kamp Croquet, two low-alcohol drinks that were both perfectly balanced to enjoy alongside a delicious starter of roasted carrots.

Next Tyler whipped us up the NAgroni Sbagliato and NA French 75 mocktails which were excellent, the NAgroni being the star of the show. We enjoyed the steak frites and oxtail pappardelle, and for dessert vegan soft serve -- be still my lactose-intolerant heart! The flavors were Lays potato chip and Oreo. It's worth a trip to Kamp just for the swirl cone.

The staff was attentive, friendly and fun without being intrusive. We cannot wait to go back, and highly recommend to anyone, soberish or not.

Check out my video review on Instagram and send me a message with your favorite mocktail spots as well. Cheers!
