Dry, complex and refreshing: this is what non-alcoholic sparkling wine should taste like.
Making a decent nonalcoholic wine appears to be a greater challenge than producing alcohol-free beer and spirits. It's the one category I've had the most trouble with, and dumped the most down the drain. But not today. Let me introduce you to the best non-alcoholic sparkling wine I've had to date, 'Spring in a Bottle' by Wölffer Estate Vineyard.
'Spring in a Bottle' Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Wine Review
Wölffer Estate Vineyard has been producing premium wines, ciders and spirits for 35 years out of New York. They offer a couple alcohol-free options, and I was able to grab a bottle of this sparkling rosé in person at the Bellevue Total Wine & More for $23, and it's also available online at The Zero Proof (you can use code Soberishmom at checkout for 10% off*). That's normally a little more than I like to pay for non-alcoholic wine, but it was worth every penny.
Tasting Notes
Nice rose color and a delicately floral bouquet, this sparkling wine has those dense, tiny bubbles I love in real sparkling wine. The flavor presents red berry and peaches: rich, tart, and fruity but not overly sweet. The finish is clean and dry with a hint of minerality. It has a layered complexity that has been very difficult to find in non-alcoholic wines.
Nutritional Facts
One thing I love about non-alcoholic wines is that the well-done ones are very low calorie. For only 36 calories and 7g of sugar per glass you can sip this guilt-free wine all summer long.
You can find most of my favorite wines online at The Zero Proof, and enjoy 10% off all purchases with code SOBERISHMOM (this is an affiliate link which means if you make a purchase I will make a couple bucks at no cost to you). Happy clean drinking this spring. Leave me a comment with some of your favorite n/a wines, I'd love to hear from you. Cheers!
